16-year-old boy accused of arson | Crime
VANCOUVER, Wash. - A 16-year-old boy faces arson charges stemming from a fire at his family’s home in Vancouver. The boy is being held a juvenile detention center.
The fire broke out at a home in the Sifton neighborhood of Clark County on Friday. It started around 9 a.m. and firefighters took about an hour and a half to get it extinguished.
After burning for that long the house was a total loss.
The fire marshal investigated and determined the fire was set on purpose.
“It was a big surprise to me to come home and find out my neighbor’s house was on fire,” said neighbor Kirk Lee. “Now they’re saying it’s arson with someone inside. It kind of makes you wonder what was really going on there.”
The home was boarded up on Sunday. Neighbors said the homeowners were there on Saturday securing the structure. The 16-year-old boy was not with them.
